The USB model can be firmware updated, So it can deliver data in HID format (as a keyboard input) or as virtual COM port (RS232 register) as decimal or hex.
A script can be loaded in the reader that changes its function. It is a text file with a program in a simplified version of C ++ traversed by scanning.
